Techniques Used:
Wet on Wet:
The painting technique of applying wet paint on top of wet paint is called wet-on-wet, alla prima, direct painting, or au premier coup. The Italian phrase alla prima translates to "at first attempt".
In wet-on-wet painting, the artist applies new layers of paint without waiting for the previous layer to dry. This technique allows for soft edges and blending. It's often done in a single sitting

Artist Statement
In Storm, I sought to capture the raw intensity of nature’s fury as a metaphor for the storm of human emotion. The tumultuous sea and its powerful, swirling clouds stand as symbols for the often uncontrollable forces that surge within us—anger, grief, longing, and passion. Just as the sea can rise in unpredictable waves, so too can our feelings shift in sudden and overwhelming bursts.
The storm, with its clouds and churning waters, represents the chaotic and sometimes destructive nature of these emotions. Yet, within this chaos, there is also a profound beauty—a reminder that even in moments of upheaval, there is power, depth, and transformation. Nature, in all its wildness, can be both destructive and renewing, just as our emotional experiences, though difficult, shape and define who we are.
Through the dynamic use of light and shadow, I invite the viewer to confront the vastness of both the external storm and the internal tempest. The painting is an exploration of contrast—the calm before the storm, the violence of the waves, and the fragile, fleeting moments of clarity that break through the clouds. It is a reflection of the strength it takes to face and endure the storm within, and ultimately, the resilience that arises in its wake.
