My Life in Art
MY PROFILE
About Corli Slabbert Art
I have always gravitated toward the South African Landscape and Seascapes because I find them so expressive. Living in South Africa there is no way that you can not be influenced by it.
Other influences in my work that can be seen are by other various artists.
Mark Rothko for his use of color, the application thereof, and the relationship between color and emotion.
And contemporary landscape artists like April Gornik and Vija Celmins.
And through my work, I try and convey more than just a pretty landscape. Giving the work an atmospheric quality. The viewer must feel like they can step into the painting and go on a journey of exploration.
Wanting the viewer to experience and connect their own emotion when looking at the work
